Mastering

A final polish on the whole song.

Makes the whole song louder and more even at export, so it sounds right next to other songs. Free presets: Universal (balanced, start here), Fire (louder, punchy), Clarity (brighter, good for vocal covers), Tape (warmer, vintage).

Use it when the mix is done and you are exporting.

Start here for vocals

  1. Make sure the loudest part of the song peaks around -8 to -4 dB on the master.
  2. Try Universal first.

  • Picking the loudest preset just because it's loudest.

Try it in 2 minutes

  1. Loop one line of your mains.
  2. Turn one knob all the way, then back. Hear what changed.
  3. Settle somewhere gentle.
  4. Click the power button to compare before and after, at the same volume.
